A Little Confusion

So, on the way back from casting Nate's arm, (coincidentally, the orthopedist saw a break in the ulna as well as the radius so 5 weeks in the cast) he and I stopped by In-and-Out for a shake.

While we were there, a cowboy came in, complete with buckle, boots, and spurs. Nate pointed him out to me and said, "Look mom! He has sperms on his boots! Girl cowboys don't have those!"

And I don't quite know how to set him straight.

Oh My! Did you laugh right then or wait until later? I think I would have to have laughed right then.

Yep, pretty much burst out laughing right then. And he said, " I know why you're laughing mom. I think sperm is not the right word."

So then there's a whole new conundrum. When he has heard the word "sperm" (which I sincerely hope was during a very blase and non-detailed discussion about reproduction), did he think we were talking about "spurs"? If I tell him girl cowboys also wear spurs, do I completely destroy any truth to the very blase reproductive discussion?
If there was no reproductive discussion, how do I explain to him what "sperm" are and how they differ from "suprs"? He hasn't asked for any follow up, so for now I'm letting sleeping dogs lie!

you just tell him that sometimes when a girl cowboy loves a boy cowboy very very much...sometimes she too gets sperms on her boots. :D
