Laundry Monster, and Other Assorted Household Evils

Short of going out and purchasing all new clothes for the family, which I am opposed to less because I am curbing our spending and more because I hate shopping, I must live in the laundry room today. And by live, I mean slowly be crushed by the weight of the 9,000 lbs of dirty clothes, socks, and underwear. But, as a reward, once I am finished with the washing and the drying, I then get to spend the next 4 days beating encouraging Ellie to fold and put them all away. Because it's her job. I have HIRED her to fold and put away clothes. I pay her. Well, not really, because she never actually folds and puts away the clothes. They just multiply like bunnies across the family room.

And after the laundry, I feel compelled to clean the bathrooms. Because they stink. As always. Don't worry though. The boys will be getting out cleanser and washing the walls.

When the last two of my kids were left at home (both boys), my laundry was still stacked to the ceiling...weird...of course, I discovered that their father had a "thrift store habit" and in deed, owned over 100 sport shirts...how dense am I?...anyhoo, I assigned one day of the week to each of the boys and on that particular day they did their laundry...no one elses...they got the washer and dryer all to themselves...and though I considered it to be a stroke of genius, it actually just turned out to be a plain old stroke, one of many, and I gave up...it was "launder as needed"...and don't even ask about the field mouse that rolled out of the dryer one day...sheer madness, that's what laundry is...sheer madness...and I think we all know anything sheer requires a "gentle" setting...oh, here comes another stroke...

I am right there with you. I am currently between loads. I literally am on load 7 for the day. It is so fun getting ready to go out of town!

I set out first thing this morning to go through all of the boys clothes, because there is NEVER enough drawer space to put their clean clothes away, and at 6:00 this evening their room is an absolute DISASTER. Do you think it will get done tomorrow...probably not. Hmmm, maybe I could somehow turn it into a recycling lesson and have all the cubscouts work on it tomorrow. Do you think I'm on to something, I didn't think so either.

I hate laundry almost as much as spiders. Almost.
